Volunteers in Medicine Southern Nevada
Work - healthcareVMSN is a non-profit organization to help bridge the gap between the working uninsured and access to vital health care services. VMSN was established to provide access to quality medical care in a clinic fostering a “culture of caring” by providing free medical services for the medically and financially disadvantaged in the community. The 11,700 SF clinic contains 9 general exam rooms, three dental operatories, lab, two procedures rooms, ophthalmologist room, pharmacy, staff training room and associated office and administration areas. The facility is designed to accommodate family visits with a large waiting room, a separate children’s area and family size exam rooms. In addition to a staff of volunteer doctors and nurses, the facility also provides social workers and family counselors for a comprehensive family treatment center. The initial facility was designed as a prototype that could be sited on smaller infill urban parcels.
The work for the preliminary programming, design and funding package portion of the project was donated by SH Architecture as part of the firm’s ongoing commitment for giving back to the community.
